"HAHATHAKIS TOURS" Travel Agency located on the beautiful, noble and green Lesvos Island , in the city of Mytilene near the new marina a five minutes distance from the port and a fifteen minutes distance from the airport.

Hotel and Tourist S.A. Company "APHRODITE" consists of two heads, George Hahathakis (President) and Yiannis Hahathakis (General Manager).

The story of the company began in 1970 when Hahathakis family (Konstandinos – Maria – George – Yiannis) left Athens to return to a small village on Lesvos Island , Vrisa and decided to stay.

During the years between 1970 – 1980 both parents worked on the farms, picked up olives and at the same time they owned a small brick – making business at Vatera on Lesvos Island . Both George and Yiannis (10 & 13 years old) used to help their parents run the business.

After 1980 new patents and more competitive products brought economical crisis to the business.

Considering the crisis and the fact that theirland was on the longest and most beautiful beach on the Island – VATERA - the idea of making a traditional Greek ouzeri, serving Greek ouzo and orde’ves, was born.

The ouzeri did very well and beside that the father of the family who was also a musician, trained Yiannis in music and taught him how to play drums, bouzouki and how to sing.

Later Yiannis and two other people from the same area got a band together and they sung almost every day in the tavern. The band was an attraction for the villagers who went to the ouzeri daily and for all the festivals and celebrations of the village. In time the need of a bigger business was imperative.

In 1980 the ouzeri was transformed into a restaurant and Greek tavern with modern facilities, a big kitchen and a renovated outdoor tavern. The new business named "The Golden Beach".

In 1983, the first modern rooms to rent, with private bathroom and all the comforts were built beside the restaurant.

The period 1983 – 1987 was very positive for the business which was running with all family’s offer and help.

In 1987 George left the army and the idea was to now build a hotel, where the tavern located.

In early 1990 the plans for “APHRODITE” Hotel and Tourist S.A. Company are ready.

The name "APHRODITE" was given in honor of George and Yiannis grandmother, Aprhodite, because she offered the building plot.

Initially, the company consisted of 3 members, Maria Hahathaki (member), George Hahthakis (President) and Yiannis Hahthakis (General Manager).

In September 1990 the tavern and rooms for rent were demolished and on the same location began the construction for the main hotel building, reception, kitchen e.t.c..

During the period from 1990 – 1996 construction was gradual. Using their own funds and personal effort, hotel "APHRODITE" was completed.

In 1996 the family’s tourist activities expanded to the creation of 3 personal room rentals which operate as A’ category furnished rooms which lean towards the "APHRODITE" Hotel .

A rising progression followed and in 2002 the business’s activity expanded to a car rental agency with their own cars, in the name of "APHRODITE".

In 2003 the company celebrated the opening of "HAHATHAKIS TOURS TRAVEL & TOURISM" company based in Vatera – Lesvos and in 2004 a new branch office Travel Agency and car rental in Mytilene town opened, near the port and the airport and beside the new marina at the address of ODYSSEA ELYTH & KARAPANAGIOTI.

GEORGE' S BIO

C.V. GEORGIOS HAHATHAKIS : George Hahathakis was born in Mytilene – Lesvos in the year of 1964. He attended primary school in Vrissa village and graduated from high school in Polichnitos in 1981. In 1981 he studied in Athens Tourism business school (Management – Marketing). From 1983 to 1987 he joined the Greek Army as a regular officer in managerial posts. In 1987 due to his love for his family and the place where he was born and raised, he and his brother Yiannis decided to leave all their activities so they can deal full – time with Tourism. From 1987 to 1990 he works for the family business rooms to rent and restaurant "THE GOLDEN BEACH" From 1990 until now he is President of "APHRODITE HOTEL & TOURIST BUSINESS" S.A. Company. In 1996 he met Georgia Alamagou who is from Palaiochori - Lesvos at Aphrodite Hotel . He married Georgia in 1997 on Lesvos Island , where a huge wedding feast was held at Aphrodite Hotel . They have 3 children – Kostas (1997), Maria (1998) and Evagelia (2000). They live permanently on Lesvos island, so they can deal exclusively with the family business of Aphrodite Hotel and Hahathakis Tours.

He also serviced:
1994 – 1998: Vice - President of Lesvos Agricultural co-operative.
1998 – 2002: President of the Tourist committee of Polichnitos Municipality and vice- President of Vrissa’s local region.
2003 – until now: President of Vatera’s and Polichnitos Touristic Development association in the name of "Enosis"

YIANNIS BIO

C. V. YIANNIS HAHATHAKIS

Yiannis Hahathakis was born in Athens in August 1966. He attended primary school in Vrisa village and graduated from Polichnitos’s high school in 1983 as an excellent student. He was high school President, for two years. At the same time he worked on Lesvos , in different bands as a drummer. From 1983 – 1985 he studied at a private school in Athens inTourist business, marketing and management. During the same period he also studied phonetics, Sol fez, guitar and Byzantine music at the Greek National musical academy.

At the same time he worked as a professional singer in various night clubs in Athens . In 1985 he was drafted by the army to do his military service. (24 months). By 1986 he is working full - time in the family tourist business in Vatera – Lesvos (restaurant and rooms to rent), where he meets his wife Maria, who was born in Canada . During the years 1986 – 1992 he traveled to Canada very often - Winter in Canada , summer in Greece . In Canada he enrolled in a class for tourist business, in one of the most famous schools in Vancouver B.C. and at the same time he worked as general manager, in his wife’s family chain – stores "OLYMPIA GREEK RESTAURANTS". He also sang in different music halls and concerts for the Greeks abroad.

In 1988 he married Maria Koutsantoni, in Canada , who was graduated as a teacher in English at the University of British Columbia . They have two teenaged girls Maria and Melitsa and ten years later a little boy Konstantinos (junior) came along. In 1992 they moved permanently to Greece , on Lesvos Island so they can deal exclusively with the family business of "APHRODITE" Hotel and Hahathakis Tours.

He also serviced:

In 1996 he was responsible for all the tourist issues, promotions and development of village Vrisa and Vatera.
In 1997 he was selected as a member on the Board of the Hotel Association and was responsible for public relations.
He has been Secretary General on the Board of the Hotel Unioneers since 2002. During the period from 2002 – 2004 he was the President of the Tourist department of Lesvos - Limnos chamber.
